Tel Aviv: The Israeli government has confirmed that two bodies returned by Hamas belong to Ariel and Kfir Bibas, two Israeli children who were kidnapped during the October 7 attacks. However, forensic tests indicate that a third body is not that of their mother, Shiri Bibas, as initially suspected.
The news has sparked renewed calls for the Israeli government to intensify efforts to secure the release of remaining hostages held by Hamas. Israeli officials have accused Hamas of withholding information about other captives, increasing tensions amid ongoing ceasefire negotiations.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to continue military operations in Gaza until all hostages are accounted for and returned. Meanwhile, international mediators are working to broker another truce, but the situation remains highly volatile.
The latest developments have further complicated efforts to de-escalate the conflict, with both sides hardening their positions. Analysts believe that without a diplomatic breakthrough, violence in the region could continue indefinitely.
